Consumers International Africa Office (CI-ROAF) is calling for
applications for the best reporting in consumer journalism in Africa for
the Kalam Awards 2005. it is meant to encourage the publication of
impacting reports on consumer issues throughout the continent.
The Kalam Awards organized by CI-ROAF seek to
showcase and encourage good journalism that considers important consumer
issues, such as access to basic goods and services, safety, and access to
consumer information.
The Awards are
open to all journalists (reporters, editors, freelancers, cameramen,
photographers, anchors, etc.) individually or to media organs as a whole.
Three categories
of prizes are on offer: Print media/online media (such as websites), Radio
and Television. Prizes include laptop computers to all winners.
The winners of the print and electronic
categories will each receive US$500 and a new laptop computer. The radio
winner will receive a digital recorder and a laptop. The deadline for
application is 20 September 2005.
CI-ROAF seeks to represent African consumers
