DAME Calls For Entries for its Fourteenth Media Excellence Awards

 

The Trustees of Diamond Award for Media Excellence (DAME) organizers of the yearly DAME media award is calling for entries of outstanding works produced in 2004 for its 14th edition.

 

Awards are available in three main categories: journalism, with 20 awards; broadcast, with seven awards; and advertising, with six awards. They are open to media professionals and relevant media houses, advertising and marketing communication firms.

 

For journalism category, each entry must comprise an original clipping of the work entered and five clean photocopies. Passport photograph and comprehensive resume of journalist must be included. Joint entries for any work must not carry more than three by-lines; other wise prize goes to the publication. Entries for awards in this category are available in Action Photography, Best designed newspaper, Capital Market reporting, Environmental Reporting, Informed commentary, and Press reporter of the year among others.

 

For broadcasting categories, each entry must be on a video/audio cassette or compact disk, three copies of which must be submitted. A passport photograph and resume of producer must accompany the drama and documentary entries; while that of the journalist must accompany the reporting and presenting categories and all entries in the advertising categories should be recorded on the same VHS tape, CD or audio cassette as applicable and submitted in triplicates in a particular category. Entries for awards are available for: radio drama of the year, Radio reporter of the year, Radio presenter of the year, TV Documentary of the year, TV Director of the year, TV Drama of the year, and TV Reporter of the year.

 

The performance of the entry for advertisers will be scored on their effective exploitation of the AIDA principle to stimulate attention, interest; desire and action while all others will be scored on the ABACADER principle of accuracy, balance, contextual analysis, depth of research, engaging use of language and relevance of subject matter.

 

Participants, (individuals/organizations) are entitled to a maximum of three entries for each category. Applicants are to send detailed CV and photograph and should also accompany all entries. DAME accepts third party nominations.

 

The prizes to be won, include DAME plaque, cash prize, one year free subscription to media review, and a certificate of merit to individual winners as well as a DAME plaque and a certificate of merit for institutional winners

 

Entries which should be accompanied by appropriate background information including details of date of publication/transmission, medium, motivation, reactions and names of key personnel involved in the work must reach the organizers not later than September 12, 2005.
