The University
of Hong Kong Journalism and Media Studies Centre
The Journalism and Media Studies Centre of the University of Hong Kong
offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes in Journalism. Its
strategic historical and geographical importance as an international
city with colonial past, multiple languages and culture with a diversity
of local and international journalistic practice, it attracts students
from all over the world.
It offers the Bachelors, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy/Master of
Philosophy in Journalism
The Master of Journalism (MJ) is a one year full time, or two years part
time professional programme for students seeking to enhance their
knowledge of the profession and acquire journalistic skill. Students who
complete half of the MJ requirements can opt for a Post-Graduate Diploma
in Journalism.
The Bachelor of journalism (BJ) is an undergraduate programme for
students seeking a career in print, broadcasts or online journalism. BJ
students are required to undertake a second major in the arts, sciences
or social sciences.
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in
Journalism is a research graduate programme for advanced students or
professionals pursuing a career in research or University teaching.
Research focus of the Centre include Media Law; Public Health
Communications; Business and Financial Journalism; and Digital media.
