Journalists for Christ Call for Entries for
‘Religion Media Awards’
Entries are invited for the various categories in the
second edition of the “Religion Media Awards” to encourage better
reporting of Christian issues in the Nigerian Media. The Award is to
honour journalists, media professionals and writers that write about
Christianity with accuracy and fairness in a way that seeks to build the
church of Nigeria.
The award sponsored by the Church Growth Services, Lagos
will cover different categories of Christian religion publication and
broadcast. Categories for the 2004 award include, Religion Writer of the
Year, Christian Magazine of the Year, Christian Newspapers of the Year,
Christian Programme of the Year (Radio), Best Christian Programme
(Television) and Book of the Year.
The award is open to Nigerian journalists and media
organizations including free-lancers worldwide.
Interested journalist/media organizations are encouraged to
submit at least two reports published/broadcast between January 1 -
December 30 2004. All entries must be accompanied with the applicant's CV
and a covering letter, which must be received on or before April 20, 2005.
Entries would be judged on the quality of reports, depth of
coverage and clear understanding of issues reported about.

The Awards ceremony will take place in May 2005. Winners
of the various categories will receive cash prizes or books.
Winners of the 2003 edition were Dickson Adeyanju of The
Guardian (Religion Writer of the Year), Jackson Ekwugulum, Lifeway
Magazine (Christian Magazine Publisher of the Year), Julius Adegunna
(Praise The Lord Newspaper (PTL) Christian Newspaper Publisher of the
Year), Rev. Mrs. Olufunke Alli, Quite Time, Raypower Radio (Christian
radio Prorgamme Producer of the year and Pastor Stanley Adeyemi, Gospo-Iran,
NTA,
Lagos (Christian Television producer of the Year)
Journalists for Christ is a media based organization
devoted to promoting Christian ethics in the media.
