Knight International Journalism Awards Seek Nomination of Outstanding Journalists

The Washington-based nonprofit organization, the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is seeking nominations for the 2008 Knight International Journalism Awards which recognize international journalists who demonstrate an extraordinary devotion to the craft by upholding the highest journalistic standards despite overwhelming challenges.

Abbas, the first blogger to win the Knight International Journalism Award, was later named 2007 Middle East Person of the Year by CNN.

Hein and Abbas are among 24 Knight International Journalism Award recipients selected for their commitment to high-quality journalism. Award winners receive a trip to the United States and a $1,000 cash prize, which will be presented at ICFJ’s Annual Awards Dinner in November.
