Wole Soyinka
Awards for Investigative Reporting Call for Entries
Interested Nigerian professional journalist or team of journalists (full
time professional or freelancers) are eligible to apply for the
forthcoming Wole Soyinka Awards for Investigative Reporting.
Consideration will be given to works in Print, Broadcast,
Photojournalism, and Online journalism.
Eligible stories must be investigative stories (single work or
single-subject serial) reporting on public or corporate corruption,
and/or human rights violations. Such works must have been first
published or broadcast in a Nigerian media within the past one year.
All submitted works must be in English language and for video/audio
entries, English language transcripts are required. Audio entries should
be sent in Audio CD format, with accompanying script; video entries must
be on VCD, also with accompanying script.
For entries for Photojournalism, preference will be given to pictures or
portfolio projects that involve reporting on corruption or human rights
violations.
A completed entry must include: A brief synopsis of the story/series,
caption of picture or synopsis of portfolio.
The applicant, in his/her entry is expected to: explain the background
of the project, identifying the issues and key players; describe what
led to the topic; any unusual condition they faced in developing the
project and whether the investigation had any ramifications; and
describe challenges to the content of the story/series that were not
reported in the original work.
Curriculum Vitae must be submitted for every reporter who bears the
byline of the story.

treated
Entries submitted shall be adjudged by a jury
of both local and international experts in the field of media and human
rights.
