Nieman
International Fellowship at Harvard University
Experienced
print, broadcast and online journalists have until December 15 to apply
for the Nieman International Fellowship at
Harvard
University in the United States.
The annual
fellowships are open to freelance or full-time journalists, including
photographers, producers, editorial writers and cartoonists, with at least
five years of experience. Once accepted, fellows can choose their own
course of study.
International fellows must pay their tuition and other expenses. However,
the fellowship provides a housing allowance of US$5,000 to $12,000,
depending on family size, and a childcare allowance.
Harvard
recommends that applicants ask the cultural affairs office at the U.S.
Embassy in their home country for potential grant sources to cover the
other expenses.
Applicants
must submit a personal statement, including previous journalism experience
and goals for the future. They also must submit a proposal for study at
Harvard, indicating how the fellowship would make the applicant a better
journalist.
The Nieman
Fellowships are awarded to 12
U.S.
journalists and 12 non-U.S. journalists every year.
The deadline
for applications is
December 15,
2005.
