Onosode Leads Corporate Nigeria on Freedom of Information Roundtable

Lagos, Sunday, April 21, 2002:  Boardroom specialist, Mr. Gamaliel Onosode, will lead corporate Nigeria as the business community explores ways of strengthening the advocacy team of the Freedom of Information Bill.

The Bill, which is currently receiving the scrutiny of the House of Representatives, seeks to give a legal right of access to information at the public domain to citizens.  The House of Representatives committee on information in October 2001 held a public hearing on the bill.  The event was intended to receive input into the Bill as a basic requirement by the House.  Promoters of the Bill believe its passage will bring transparency and accountability to bear in the conduct of government business.

The proposed Business Roundtable will have in attendance many private sector operators.  It is expected to be highly interactive and will seek ways in which the business community can promote and support the passage of the Bill into law, which is believed would have significant positive impact on business ethics.

The roundtable scheduled for May 8, 2002, takes place at the CAPL Training Centre along Adeniyi Jones Avenue in Ikeja.
