Cambridge Hosts Science and Religion Fellowships for Journalists
Journalists
interested in pondering the connections between science and religion more
deeply have until
December 15,
2005 to apply for the Templeton-Cambridge Journalism Fellowships in
Science and Religion at the prestigious University of Cambridge in the
United Kingdom.
The
Templeton-Cambridge Journalism Fellowships in Science and Religion is now
in its second year. The programme will select 10 qualified broadcast,
online or print journalists from anywhere in the world for the 2006
programme. Fluency in English is a requirement.
Each fellows
will receive a US$15,000 stipend, a book allowance, and travel expenses.
The
John
Templeton Foundation is sponsoring the programme, which is aimed at
promoting more informed public discussion on science and religion.
In early
June, the journalists will attend two weeks of seminars led by experts on
various aspects of science and religion. This will be followed by five
weeks of private, independent study. The fellows then return to the
University for a Final Seminar, where they will deliver oral presentations
on their research.
The
programme encourages participants to write and publish articles or
editorials on their work. Research possibilities include the origins of
life, genetic engineering, or spirituality and health.
Applicants
should submit a detailed resume, three professional references, three
samples of their work, and a 1,500-word essay.
