Radio Nederland Training Centre (RNTC) Journalism Training Programmes
for 2008 and 2009
The Radio Nederland Training Centre (RNTC) at Hilversum in The
Netherlands offers international training courses in Journalism.
The international courses at RNTC's headquarters in Hilversum, The
Netherlands, aim to enhance the professional knowledge, skills and
attitudes of people already working in or for the media, as journalists,
programme makers, trainers and managers.
They
focus on increasing understanding of specific areas of professional
media practice such as dramatisation, educational programme production,
the development of programme formats, the use of the internet, to
strengthen the capacity of the media to inform and educate, and
broadcast journalism, including deepening the understanding of issues
like globalisation, migration, good governance or conflict prevention
and peace building.
RNTC also specialises in training trainers: focusing on what it takes to
organise, design and implement training for radio, television and the
internet.
RNTC
believes in Learning by Doing.
The strength of RNTC is the way in which it combines theory with
practice. Adults find it easier to learn in a situation in which they
are expected to actively participate rather than passively follow a
series of lectures. Course participants will handle the audio recorder
or DV Cam themselves and do most of their own editing, of course after
having been trained (if needed) and with the help of instructors. RNTC
also believes in getting to know all media disciplines: so radio people
will also be handling camera's, television people will record sound and
all participants will produce stories for a website.
Training at RNTC takes place three times a year: a course of three
months at the beginning of the year, followed by a six week course in
May/June, and another three month course at the end of the year.
The course RNTC is offering in 2008 for those working in broadcast
management is not open to applications under the Netherlands Fellowship
Programmes (NFP). This means that only those who can arrange sponsoring
for themselves or can play their own way will be able to apply for a
place.
The theme of its broadcast journalism course in the Olympic year of 2008
is “Sport and Society” and women journalists are specially encouraged to
apply.

accommodation and course fees are paid for by the applicants concerned
or by a third party on their behalf.

the course information sheets provided to ensure that they are applying

Aside RNTC regular training courses in Hilversum it continues to offer
and carry out tailor-made training both at the centre and on the spot.
