Sideeq is an expert in a range of human rights issues, with a particular personal interest in the rule of law and the weaponization of information. As a Legal Officer at Media Rights Agenda, Sideeq’s work covers freedom of expression, access to information, digital rights and Internet freedom.
He graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University from where he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School in Abuja and was thereafter called to the Nigerian Bar. He practised in different law firms, including Afe Babalola SAN & Co., before joining Media Rights Agenda in 2020 as a Legal Officer.
He is a member and a former Legal Adviser of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Ifako-Ijaiye, in Lagos State. He is a member of Nigerian Bar Association and a prominent member of The Young Lawyers Forum, Ikeja Branch. He has attended a number of workshops that focus on different issues, including press freedom, national security, and youth governance. He is an avid reader, a writer and a passionate human and social rights advocate. His hobbies are reading, playing football, travelling, and teaching.
