The Eleventh International Conference on Communications and Media Studies, organised by the Communication and Media Studies Research Network and scheduled to be held at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, on October 1 and 2, 2026, is now accepting proposals from researchers and has opened registration for the Conference.
The 2026 conference will explore the theme: The Image as Advocate: Shaping Cultural Conversations and the sub-themes: Media Cultures; Media Theory; Media Technologies and Processes; Media Business and Media Literacies.
Submissions of proposals should reflect the following lines of investigation: The cultures of media and the media of culture; The theories of media and communication; The technologies of media and communication; The business of communication media; and The languages and learning of media.
The Communication and Media Studies Research Network also supports a book imprint and a series of journals
Speakers expected at the conference include Mr Yu Jin Seng, Senior Curator at the National Gallery Singapore, Singapore; Ms Jesvin Yeo, Professor of School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; and Mr Jackson Tan, Co-founder and Creative Director, BLACK Design, Singapore.
The Conference, founded in 2015 by the Communication and Media Studies Research Network, offers an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of the role of media and communications in society. They seek to build an epistemic community where they can make linkages across disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries. As a Research Network, they are defined by their scope and concerns and motivated to build strategies for action framed by their shared themes and tensions.
