JIAS Invites Applications for Writing Fellowships

The Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS)  is inviting writers from any field of expertise to apply for the fifth edition of its writing fellowships, which will run from February 3 to May 31, 2020.

The Fellowships are open to interested persons from any field of expertise as previous fellows have included academics, novelists, scientists, poets, playwrights, independent researchers and journalists.

JIAS Writing Fellows enjoy a quiet space for work, reflection and academic community-building amidst the Melville Koppies of Johannesburg.

Selected Writing Fellows receive accommodation in JIAS’ private residential suites; daily breakfast and lunch; access to the facilities of the University of Johannesburg; and a monthly taxable stipend.

Application, comprising a two-page proposal, a comprehensive CV, and three letters of reference should be submitted online at ttps://jias.joburg/offering/apply/#application.

JIAS advises that that successful applicants to keep their scholarly commitments outside of JIAS to a minimum.

Application deadline is June 30, 2019. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
