2022 Annual Conference of Communication Scholars to Hold in Abuja, Issues Call for Papers

The ninth Annual Conference of the Association of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) will hold Abuja, from August 31 to September 1, 2022 and will explore “Communication, Media, and Power Relations in a Multicultural Society”. The Conference will be hybrid, combining both physical and virtual sessions.

The theme of the Special Panel of the conference is: “One Country, Many Voices, Dilemmas of free expression”, while the theme of the 4th ACSPN Female Researcher’s Panel is: “Women in the Margins and the Irony of Media Coverage”.

Bearing in mind that communication and media have obviously become realistic alternatives of power relations in a multicultural society, ACSPN invites papers from its members/potential members, other interested individuals, local and international organizations, associations, institutions, agencies, the private sector, and governments for participation in its 2022 annual conference to examine the issue.

Participants are encouraged to explore theoretical, conceptual, and contextual issues in the areas of communication, media, and power relations in a multicultural society as they relate to any of the sub-themes or related areas under the theme. The Association welcomes academic contributions, case studies or special presentations that are products of collaborative, original and innovative empirical studies, or professional experiences in these areas.

Papers should reflect but not be restricted to the following sub-themes:

  • Emerging media and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Gender, Media and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Social Media, citizen participation and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Media Ethics and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Media Ownership/Control and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Public Relations and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Public Relations in a multicultural society
  • Advertising, and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Multiculturalism and power relations
  • Communication and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Communication, Diversity, and power relations
  • Media Professionalism and power relations in a multicultural society
  • Visual communication of power in a multicultural society
  • Alternative Media and power relations in a multicultural society

Interested contributors should send abstracts of no more than 300 words (typed using Times New Roman font and 1.5 spacing formats) by emailed before May 30, 2022 and full papers (typed using Times New Roman font and 1.5 spacing formats) by July 15, 2022 to ascpnpublicationshub@gmail.com.

Abstracts should include affiliation, address and email of authors as more specific correspondence would be sent only to confirmed participants as the date approaches.
