The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ), a non-political professional association for agricultural journalists and communicators will host this year’s congress in Nairobi, Kenya, from October 14 to 18, 2025. The event will gather journalists from around the world and highlight its essential role in the global agricultural journalism landscape.

The congress will be organised by the Media for Environment, Science, Health, and Agriculture (MESHA) based in Kenya, and it will address themes relevant to the current agricultural landscape.

It will engage various stakeholders, including agricultural journalists, scientists, policymakers, industry experts, farmers, environmentalists, and representatives from international organizations and governmental bodies.

The annual IFAJ Congress provides a timely platform for journalists and communicators to delve into the critical issue of agriculture. By exploring the latest advancements, sharing best practices, and enabling global collaboration as a way to foster innovative solutions to the pressing issues of climate change, soil erosion, and other threats to global food security.

During the event, IFAJ will also mark its 69th anniversary since its founding in Paris, France, as the ‘Union internationale des journalistes agricoles’ (International Union of Agricultural Journalists). The Federation established to provide a forum where journalists can network, exchange ideas, and practice professional development, has over 5,000 members.

The event provides an opportunity for journalists to bring back remarkable insights into different agricultural industries and practices, providing them valuable opportunities to report, compare and contrast, improve knowledge and build networks.

It is also an important business event for IFAJ; where both the Executive and Delegate Assemblies convey to debate and decide on strategy.

Additionally, it is a tremendous opportunity for the home guild to showcase their agriculture to the rest of the world, while at the same time building and strengthening relationships with domestic associations, trade bodies and sponsors as well as providing much-needed interaction with other guilds.
