ACES Calls for Applications for Bill Walsh Scholarship

ACES, the Society for Editing, comprising of leading organization of editing professionals, educators, and students, is calling for applications, from college juniors, seniors, or graduate students interested in editing as a career, for the Bill Walsh Scholarship.

The scholarship is to recognize excellence and serve as stepping stones for editors to advance their education, gain industry exposure, and connect with professionals who share their passion for the art of editing.

The scholarship is divided into 2 groups, the first group is the Bill Walsh scholarship will go to an applicant who aspires to edit news and also demonstrates the talent and passion for language that Bill devoted his life to. The second group scholarship will go to five applicants who are committed to a career in the editing of written materials and demonstrate effectiveness in doing so.

To apply for the Bill Walsh Scholarship, applicants are to combine in a single document, their résumé, including education; and the names, occupations and contact information of three people who are professionally or academically familiar with their editing and/or writing.

Applicants are to title the combined document with (in this order) their last name, first name, and “BW” and email it as an attachment to crudenalex@gmail.com.

Applicants are also requested to submit responses to questions available on the website.

Applications must be emailed by the end of November 15, 2023. All entry materials must be in English.
