Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian organization that takes action against the causes and effects of hunger, is  inviting submissions for a grant that aims to foster innovative humanitarian perspectives. This grant marks the first since the establishment of the organization in 1979.

The grant programme was established with the aim of offering a platform for the exploration of innovative narrative and iconographic methods. Individuals who are interested in submitting their projects are encouraged to liberate themselves from traditional conventions and embrace creativity and audacity. The primary objective is to stimulate a collective dialogue and foster contemplation regarding the progression of multimedia language in the humanitarian field.

In addition to showcasing the work of photographers, videographers, and content creators, this grant programme has a twofold objective: to enhance the visibility of the individuals supported by Action Against Hunger and to shed light on the situations they face in regions where the organization operates.

From applications received, a preliminary selection will be conducted by Action Against Hunger. The chosen projects will then be presented to an international, multidisciplinary panel of experts who will serve as the jury. This esteemed panel will collaborate to select the grant recipient.

The selected individual will be awarded a grant of €10,000 to fund his/her project, which is scheduled to be exhibited from October 2024. Furthermore, the winner will receive valuable guidance and mentorship from the grant’s jury president, Cristina de Middel – an esteemed documentary photographer and artist.

Entries for grant close on August 31, 2023.
