Action contre la Faim (Action Against Hunger), an international non-governmental organisation fighting hunger, has opened applications for the third edition of its Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective, offering a €5,000 award to support innovative storytelling projects focused on humanitarian themes.
Aimed at photographers, video artists, illustrators, designers, and other content creators, the grant seeks to promote inclusive, ethical, and impactful representations of the communities the organisation serves across its countries of operation.
This year’s edition follows the significant disruptions recently faced by NGOs, prompting a redesign of the grant to better reflect the evolving humanitarian landscape. Action contre la Faim aims to spotlight stories that move beyond conventional portrayals, stories that embrace fairness, inclusivity, and deeper engagement with the lived realities of affected populations.
The grant is open to both individual and collective projects, with a focus on originality in storytelling and production. Submissions will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary internal jury between September and October 2025, and the selected project will be showcased digitally, and potentially in physical formats, starting from October 2026, providing a global platform for visibility and impact.
To be eligible, the proposed project must focus on a humanitarian theme that aligns with Action contre la Faim’s mission and areas of intervention. It must also be based in a country where the organisation is actively present. The selection committee is looking for originality and boldness, projects that move beyond conventional narratives to present ethical, fair, and inclusive representations of affected communities.
Applicants must submit original and unpublished work, demonstrating innovation in both storytelling and production. The selected grantee should be available to complete and present their project digitally (and potentially in physical form) by October 2026.
Applications close on August 31, 2025.
