AIPS Sport Media Awards Receiving Submissions for 2025 Edition

The International Sports Press Association (AIPS), the professional body representing the international sports media, has officially opened submissions for the 8th edition of the AIPS Sport Media Awards, with the theme “Celebrating Excellence in Sports Journalism.”

The Awards honour excellence across multiple platforms, including writing, photography, audio, and video, celebrating the creativity, dedication, and impact of sports media. Journalists, photographers, broadcasters, and storytellers from across the globe are invited to submit up to two entries showcasing their best work. Eligible entries must have been published or broadcast between November 5, 2024 and November 4, 2025.

Categories include Best Opinion Column, Best Colour Piece, Sport Action Photography, Portfolio Photography, Athlete Profile, Documentary, Short Feature, Audio, and the Young Reporters Awards for professionals under 30.

Winners in each eligible category will receive a trophy and prize money of US$5,000 for first place; US$3,000 for second place; and US$2,000 for third place

For Young Reporters, winners will receive a career-boosting scholarship to cover a major international sports event, a unique opportunity to grow their careers on the global stage.

Submissions close on November 4, 2025, with the longlist announced in January 2026, the shortlist in February 2026, the top 10 finalists and podium candidates in March 2026, and the awards ceremony taking place in April 2026 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Entries will be reviewed by a jury of 12 experts, led by AIPS President Gianni Merlo. Beyond journalistic excellence, submissions will be evaluated on how they reflect AIPS values, including human rights, gender equality, integrity in sports, anti-discrimination, and mental health awareness.

Since its inception in 2019, the Awards have become a landmark event in international sports journalism. Previous editions have been hosted in Lausanne, Budapest, Doha, Seoul, Spain, and most recently in Rabat, Morocco, during the 2025 AIPS Congress.
