Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie, the German international broadcasters’ academy, is inviting applications for its International Media Studies (IMS) Master’s Degree, targeted at students from around the world who want to work in a position of responsibility in journalism or the communications sector.
The English-language IMS Master’s programme is primarily aimed at international graduates with practical media experience. The four-semester master’s degree is a joint programme from the University of Bonn, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and DW Akademie.
It especially addresses journalists-in-training, media representatives from radio, TV, online, and print, and communication experts.
Interested applicants must have completed an academic programme (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) and have acquired at least one year of professional experience in a media-related field after their first degree.
The IMS programme is especially targeted at media representatives from radio, TV, online and print, journalists-in-training, especially from electronic media, journalists and management from community radio stations, communication experts, and NGO employees.
Others include: employees from ministries, employees from cooperative development groups and projects, representatives from regional working groups, national broadcasters, and media association representatives.

Applicants are to ensure they have adequate knowledge about the application process. Applicants are also required to provide proof of academic degree(s) and transcripts, as well as their work experience, including freelancing work. The FAQ “How can I submit proof of my work experience as a freelancer?” will tell you more.
