The Ripple Centre for Data and Investigative Journalism (RCDIJ), a Nigeria-based non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing investigative and data-driven reporting through multimedia projects, training, public advocacy, and other initiatives of public interest, is inviting applications from journalists across Africa for its funding programme.
The Fund is open to support ambitious journalism projects across the continent and is designed to empower individual journalists. The Fund provides both financial backing and editorial support for impactful investigative and data-driven reporting.
Journalists who fall under any of these categories, which include employed or freelance, online, print, or broadcast, photojournalists, cartoonists, and multimedia storytellers, can apply.
The Fund is dedicated to small to mid-scale data and investigative journalism projects that focus on issues of public importance, including education, health, security, environment, democracy and governance, corruption, economy, migration, technology, culture and development.
Grants range from under US$1,000 to US$10,000, depending on the scale, location, and duration of the project.
Beyond funding, successful applicants will receive editorial support and have their completed works published on the Centre’s sister platform, Ripples Nigeria.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed by a committee. Applicants are typically notified of their status within two months of submission.
To apply, applicants are to prepare a single PDF document (in English) that includes a project idea, a work plan, a budget, links to past published work, a data page of an international passport and a curriculum vitae.
Applications should be sent to info@rcdij.org with the subject line: RCDIJ Africa Fund Application.
