Applications are open to anyone over the age of 18 to apply for the TED Fellows Programme for 2020 (TED2020), which selects a new group of extraordinary, multidisciplinary individuals by open application. The TED fellowship targets innovators on the rise in their respective fields with bold, original work.
The TED Fellows programmme is looking to receive applications from doers, makers, inventors, advocates, filmmakers and photographers, musicians and artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, NGO heads, and human rights activists.
In addition to impressive accomplishment, the programme looks for important traits such as fine character and a good heart in TED Fellows as more than anything, this focus on character has defined the success of the TED Fellows programme.
The TED2020 application cycle opens on June 25, 2019 and closes on August 27, 2019 11:59pm UTC. Application which is online is available at https://fellow-applications.ted.com/tedcom/applications/new.
Programme staff with extensive reference checking and consultation with experts across all fields select the TED Fellows. Selection of Fellows are made by the group as a whole, not by individuals.
There is no algorithm for how TED Fellows are selected as it is based on applicants’ accomplishments in their respective fields, the potential impact of their work and also their character. The ideal applicant is multidisciplinary in his/her pursuits and is at a moment in his/her career to maximize the support of the TED community.
