
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in partnership with Huawei, a Chinese multinational technology corporation headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, is calling for applications for the Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme (GCYLP), a collaborative initiative which aims to cultivate digital leadership among young individuals and promote community-driven digital development projects.
The GCYLP will involve young leaders aged 18-28 from around the globe in creating innovative solutions for a more inclusive digital future. Each year, the programme will select thirty fellows who will receive guidance, training, and financial support to execute digital development projects within their diverse communities.
To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled or recently graduated from a STEM-related academic programme and demonstrate a commitment to digital innovation.
Among other benefits that selected applicants will enjoy are:
- Virtual mentorship and leadership training sessions from ITU and Huawei.
- Participation in an in-person global training week.
- Up to USD 10,000 grant to implement a digital development project of their choice. All 30 selected fellows will receive an initial USD 5,000 grant towards the implementation of a digital development project of their choice. The most impactful projects at the end of the year will receive an extra USD 5000
