DCA Digital Academy is inviting entries from university students for an essay writing competition award, which offers participants an opportunity to use this special #StayAtHome moments and apply their creative minds to contribute to a solution to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The award is intended for our future thinkers across a wide spectrum of fields of study, but with a focus on solutions for health technology and delivery. This award is available to all university students.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic has made remote work the new norm, in fact, the mainstream as companies, schools and other institutions around the world are encouraging their staff, students to work from home to prioritize the health and safety of their workforce and communities, from the effects that have resulted from the COVID-19 global pandemic.

It is to help navigate the challenges of studying remotely and be beneficial to the whole global conversation on health and wellness that the DCA Digital Academy created an essay writing competition award.

The theme of the essay is – eHealth in Africa: Leading innovative technologies for health in Africa and the goal is to help motivate students to understand the eHealth tech ecosystem in Africa and by extension the development of innovative digital systems for application of e-health systems to improve healthcare delivery. The essay must be up to the mark with correct spellings, correct punctuation and grammar, and a proper sentence formation.

It is intended to improve student proposal writing skills in making successful papers. All students are eligible to apply.

Applying for the essay award is entirely stress-free. Interested students are expected to submit an essay of between 1500 and 2500 words focused on topics related to eHealth in Africa: Leading innovative technologies for health in Africa. Applications are to be submitted via email only along with personal details, including, name, education qualification, contact information, and background details.

Awards for the essay competition are: 1st prize: $250; 2nd prize: $150; 3rd prize: $100. Applicants should be 18 years or older at the time of enrollment.

The deadline for submission of entries is May 1, 2020. Essay should be emailed to eoi@dotconnectafrica.org  with the subject title: Essay 2020-….[applicant adds a suitable subject of his/her own]
