Digital Democracy Edinburgh, a global summit that will bring together practitioners and experts from the civic tech community, democratic innovation, government, and academia to explore how high-quality, deliberative participation can be enhanced through digital technology in democracies around the world, will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, on March 11 and 12, 2027.

The conference will explore how high-quality, deliberative participation can be enhanced through digital technology in democracies around the world, as well as the use of technology to make collective decisions, solve shared problems, and govern ourselves effectively.

Digital Democracy Edinburgh is a collaboration between mySociety, the Scottish Government, the University of Edinburgh Futures Institute, and the AI for Collective Intelligence (AI4CI) Hub.

The conference will bring together international approaches, as well as local innovation from Scotland and across the United Kingdom to showcase and connect some of the most exciting thinking and practice in digital democracy.

According to Ms Gemma Humphrys Moulder, Events and Engagement Manager at mySociety, the event builds on 10 years of TICTeC and the 2025 Digital Democracy The Hague conference, while continuing a growing international exchange around democracy in the digital age.

Over the two days, the conference will explore what technology can make possible, the implications for democratic practice, and the opportunities and challenges for new approaches within democratic institutions.
