The digital storytelling platform, aKoma, is accepting applications for Amplify II, the second edition of its annual Fellowship for Content Creators and Storytellers in Africa.

The Fellowship seeks applicants cut from that unique creative ilk that defines an amazing creative. The Fellowship is not looking for ordinary people but wants content creators and storytellers that are non-conformists, who are laser focused on making the authentic yet fantastic stories that Africa deserves, stories that the world will use as the lenses with which the real Africa is viewed.

It is looking for young, hungry, creative photographers, videographers, writers, animators, graphic artists, and storytellers who are ready to take their creative aspirations to the next level

The Fellowship targets applicants from Accra, Ghana; Kigali, Rwanda; Nairobi, Kenya; and Lagos, Nigeria. Applicants must commit to giving between 8 and 10 hours every week to participate in Amplify activities. No exceptions will be made and applicants who cannot make the commitment should not apply.

Amplify fellowship applicants should be open to challenging defaults, demonstrate resilience, and embody a multitude of viewpoints. Fellow characteristics include rigor, ownership, vision, grit, curiosity and teamwork. In addition to tangible evidence of progress in their craft, every potential Amplify should be able to show their passion for their country and Africa

The Amplify II Fellows will be selected by the aKoma crew. The selection of Fellows will be based on their creative pursuits so far, content creation aspirations, alignment with Amplify’s vision, and other factors. The organisers of Amplify are interested in the possible range and impact of the potential Fellow’s work, the diversity of their creative work, and the ability to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by Amplify.

This is a very competitive programme for which a total of 30 Fellows will be selected for the fellowship. Ten fellows will be selected from Lagos and Nairobi while the rest fellows will come from Accra and Kigali.

The first round will run through July 7 and the final round will run from the 7th to the 14th of July, when Amplify II Fellowship recipients will be announced.

Supported by the MasterCard Foundation, aKoma is digital a storytelling platform which organizes Amplify, a six-month fellowship for talented Africans.
