An unidentified operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) on August 25, 2026, slapped and threatened Mr. Bashir Adamu of the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) and Mr. Isyaka Wunti of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), who had come to cover the commissioning of a 500KVA solar power station project executed by the Bauchi State Government at the Yankari Games Reserve in the State.

According to media reports, although the journalists were on official duty and wearing identification tags, the unidentified DSS officer, attached to a visiting delegation of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), allegedly slapped Adamu three times in public and subsequently pointed his gun at the journalist.

The same officer also prevented Isyaka Wunti from performing his duties despite his identification as a member of the Bauchi State Government House press crew.

Following the attacks, the journalists reported the matter to their respective leaderships for appropriate action.
