The Eighth International Conference on Communications and Media Studies, scheduled to be held at the Complutense University of Madrid in  Spain, from September 6 to 8, 2023, is now accepting proposals from researchers and calling for registration for the Conference.

The 2023 conference will explore the special theme: Who Can We Trust? Ethical and Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Digital Communication Systems and the sub-themes: Media Cultures; Media Theory; Media Technologies and Processes; Media Business Theme and Media Literacies.

The conference will employ a hybrid format that seeks to transcend physical boundaries by offering a platform to extend in-person conference content online, while ensuring online-only delegates are afforded equal participatory and experiential spaces within the platform. It will also offer participants a legacy resource to which they can return in the event application, with access to a social space within the community application where fellow participants can keep connected long after the conference ends.

The Conference which was founded in 2015, by the Communication and Media Studies Research Network, offers an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of the role of the media and communications in society. They seek to build an epistemic community where they can make linkages across disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries. As a Research Network, they are defined by their scope and concerns and motivated to build strategies for action framed by their shared themes and tensions.
