Entries Announced for AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is now receiving applications from journalists from around the world for its June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism. 

The award was established to shine a spotlight on the pivotal role of the media in disseminating critical knowledge about cancer. It recognizes and celebrates exceptional instances of cancer journalism that transcend the ordinary.

According to the association, the application is open to print, broadcast, and online professional journalists whose stories appear in newspapers, magazines, websites, and broadcast platforms, including television, radio and podcasts, that target lay public audiences.

However, interested applicants must submit stories that enhance the public’s understanding of cancer, cancer research, or policy, and have been published or broadcast for the first time between December 1, 2022, and November 30, 2023, with submissions in English or accurately translated to English.

More than one individual may share the prize as co-creators, with a maximum of two representatives invited to attend the AACR Annual Meeting to accept the prize if the prize is shared. Institutions or organizations are not eligible for the prize.

This prize is a testament to the enduring legacy of Dr. June L. Biedler, a luminary in the field of cancer research. Dr. Biedler, a scientist, mentor, and pioneer in cancer research, dedicated her life to unraveling the mysteries of cancer.
