FAIR Announces 2013 African Investigative Journalism Award

The Forum for African Investigative Reporters (FAIR) has announced the opening of entries for the 2013 African Investigative Journalism Awards.

Journalists from print and electronic media are invited to submit applications for the awards. The submitted journalistic item or extract from a series of journalistic pieces must have been published in print or broadcast between July 1, 2012 and July 31, 2013.

FAIR requires that interested applicants must be employed by the local media in an African country.  The categories for submission include health, culture, elections, ecology, finance/business, investigative commentary/analysis, photojournalism, philanthropy, politics, war and conflict.

Submissions can be done as an individual or in a group and submitted documents must be in English, French or Portuguese.

Winners will be announced in December and each category winner will receive US$500 while category runners-up will receive US$250.

The deadline for the submission of applications is November 10, 2013.
