The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) and the Association for Critical and Investigative Press (SKUP) have raised funds for fellowships to assist journalists from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East to attend the 9th Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) holding in Lillehammer, Norway, from October 11 to 15, 2015.
The funds are available to working professional journalists in developing and transitioning countries.
The GIJC is the seminal event in international investigative reporting held once every two years. The Conference will feature the world’s leading investigative reporters, top data journalists, and experts in security, collaboration, teaching and training, freedom of information, and more.
Established and young promising journalists with at least three years of experience who are willing to learn state of the art methodologies and techniques and help spread investigative journalism around the world are eligible to apply for the fund. Applicants should be able to demonstrate interest in investigative or data journalism.
As part of the fellowship, after the GIJC15, grantees are expected to produce a story or give a presentation about the conference in their home countries to help spread investigative journalism worldwide.
Applicants must be able to communicate and understand English, as this will be the main language of the conference.
The GIJC15 Fellowships include: round-trip airfare to Oslo, Norway; round-trip train fare between Oslo and Lillehammer; hotel room (including meals during conference days) and Conference fee.
No per diem will be offered, and successful participants are expected to cover any extra cost at their own expense.
