Free Press Unlimited Announces Press Entries for Awards 


download (2)Free Press Unlimited has announced the third edition of the Frees Press Awards aimed at celebrating the work of the best journalists and media professionals. The award will recognise the exceptional work in the categories of Newcomer of the Year and Most Resilient Journalist which will be conferred at Free Press Live event on November 2, 2017 in The Hague.

The award nomination is opened as submission of nominees for the categories of Newcomer of the Year and Most Resilient Journalist is ongoing. Entry for nomination from any country will be considered as there is no geographical limitation on the eligibility for the prize. Click here to submit a nomination.

These awards will recognise those journalists who have a strong commitment with press freedom and independent information. Nominations for the awards will be judged by an independent panel of international experts. The winner in the category ‘Newcomer of the Year’ will receive a media scholarship by choice. The winner in the category ‘Most Resilient Journalist’ will receive a cash prize of €15,000. Winners in both categories receive an expenses-paid visit to the awards ceremony November 2, 2017, where the prices will be conferred in person.

Free Press Unlimited on a daily basis supports journalist worldwide to in their quest to give out information to the general public which is not an easy task to do nowadays with this in mind these awards will honour those media professionals who will continue no matter what.

In addition the event hopes to encourage journalists who have new ideas to ensure stories will always be told. We want to honour journalists who risk everything to bring us the news, media pioneers who pave the way for equality and justice and those who persevere under the most difficult circumstances.

The Free Press Live event will be an opportunity to draw attention to the risks journalists take as Free Press Unlimited wants people to have access to reliable information needed for development believing that journalists should report the news and be the news. During the event stories of journalists who will continue no matter what will be shared.
