The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), the international hub for the world’s investigative reporters, has announced the dates for its 2026 Investigative Journalism Week (IJ WEEK), an online event scheduled to take place from October 26 to 30, 2026. The IJ WEEK will bring together journalists from around the world and will feature more than 35 panels, workshops, and networking sessions with over 100 speakers.
During the event, participants will explore a wide range of topics, including technology, environmental reporting, corruption, money laundering, and other key investigative journalism issues.
GIJN invites investigative journalists, journalism educators, trainers, and students to take part in the event. The event is designed to help participants learn new reporting techniques, discover the latest investigative tools, share experiences, and build professional connections with colleagues from around the world.
The event also marks 25 years since the first Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC), celebrating the growth of the global investigative journalism community.
GIJN’s Executive Director, Emilia Díaz-Struck, said IJ WEEK is an opportunity to celebrate the work of investigative journalists, while providing them with the skills, resources, and support needed to continue holding those in power accountable.
She noted that the investigative journalism movement has grown significantly over the past 25 years, creating stronger collaboration among journalists in more than 100 countries.
According to the organisers, as press freedom continues to face growing challenges globally, events such as IJ WEEK will help make training and networking more accessible and inclusive for journalists everywhere.
Registration closes by October 11, 2026 (midnight EST). Journalists who need financial support to attend can apply here for one of the limited tickets by July 31, 2026.
Cancellation requests must be sent via email to academy@gijn.org. Refund requests for cancelled registrations will be accepted until October 20 2026, excluding processing fees. After the deadline, requests for refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
