Global Rights Nigeria, an international human rights and governance capacity-building non-governmental organisation based in Abuja, is inviting applications from journalists and media practitioners across Nigeria to participate in a Two-Day Action Learning Training for Mass Media Practitioners on Conflict-Sensitive Reporting. The training is designed to strengthen participants’ practical skills in investigative journalism, conflict-sensitive reporting, verification and fact-checking, and the use of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.

Scheduled to hold in Abuja on August 12 and 13, 2026, the training provides an opportunity for journalists to sharpen their reporting, navigate complex stories responsibly and tell stories that are accurate, ethical and impactful.

The training is being organized as Nigeria continues to experience complex security challenges, including terrorism, violent extremism, communal conflicts, banditry, election-related violence, kidnapping, misinformation, and hate speech. It therefore seeks to underscore the critical role of the media in promoting peace, accountability, and social cohesion.

The intensive action-learning programme is expected to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills in conflict-sensitive journalism, ethical reporting, fact-checking, misinformation detection, journalist safety, and peace-oriented storytelling.

The training is open to journalists, editors,  news producers, broadcasters, online media practitioners, community radio journalists, investigative reporters, social media content creators, citizen journalists, and media managers.

The deadline for applications is July 30, 2026.

Global Rights will notify successful applicants by email and provide further details regarding the venue and participation arrangements ahead of the training.
