On November 12, 2019, gunmen stormed the home of a broadcast journalist, Mr. Abiodun Adenuga, in Aiyepe, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State and abducted him shortly after he returned from work at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Ijebu-Ode.
The gunmen allegedly lured the journalist out of his home by switching off Abiodun’s electricity generator and when he came out to check, they held himat gun point and whisked him away.
Information from the family indicates the journalist’s abductors demanded N15 million ransom (about US$41,466).
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident saying the police have swung into action and are on the trail of the abductors
