The International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX) will, from June 17 to 20, 2013, hold its 18th General Meeting and Strategy Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  These events provide IFEX members the opportunity to address emerging freedom of expression issues and share experiences.

Ms. Annie Game, Executive Director IFEX

The General Meeting will take place on June 17 and 18, 2013 and is restricted to IFEX members alone. It will focus on how collaboration and engagement in the network adds value to the work of each IFEX member.

It provides an important opportunity for its members to discuss and debate the network’s emerging issues and generate strategies for addressing them.  It also creates an opening to plan joint activities and benefit from the experiences and expertise of other IFEX members.

The Strategy Conference entitled ‘Overcoming Obstacles to Defending and Promoting Free Expression’ will come up on June 19 and 20, 2013 and is open to IFEX members, all donors, local stakeholders and other special guests.  IFEX has therefore invited all stakeholders to join its members to network, exchange skills, forge new alliances and participate in hands-on workshops.

The Conference will spotlight the many challenges of freedom of expression and participants will learn more from organisations that work in the face of widespread threats to free expression in Southeast Asia.

This IFEX General Meeting and Strategy Conference are being hosted by IFEX member organization, Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR).

IFEX is a global network of over 80 independent non-governmental organisations working at local, national, regional and international levels to defend and promote freedom of expression as a fundamental human right.
