The Internet Government Forum (IGF) has issued an invitation to stakeholders to submit session proposals for the 2023 IGF. Proposals are to focus on the eight subthemes to be held under the overarching theme, “The Internet We Want – Empowering All People”.

The IGF 2023 is being organized in a hybrid format and welcomes participants at the physical venue in Kyoto, Japan, as well as online. The goal of the sessions is for all participants, whether onsite or online, to engage in an equally meaningful way in IGF sessions.

Workshop and session organizers are expected to consider elements of interactivity and accommodate the hybrid format in their proposals. For workshop proposals competitively evaluated by the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG), these elements of hybrid interactivity will be a factor in a proposal’s overall rating.

The eight subthemes of the IGF 2023 are: AI and Emerging Technologies; Avoiding Internet Fragmentation; Cybersecurity, Cybercrime and Online Safety; Data Governance and Trust; Global Digital Divides and Inclusion; Global Digital Governance and Cooperation; Human Rights and Freedoms; and Sustainability and Environment

The IGF 2023 First Open Consultations and MAG Meeting reviewed the inputs from the IGF 2023 thematic and stocktaking calls, and as a result, decided on the subthemes.

The programme will be organized in a hybrid format with a physical venue in Kyoto, Japan, as well. The goal is for all participants, whether onsite or online, to engage in an equally meaningful way in the sessions.
