On the night of July 15, 2017, Mr. Danjuma Katsina was arrested and detained by the police in Katsina for his post on Facebook which was alleged to be critical Mansur Mashi, a newly-elected member of the House of Representatives from the state.
His detention, according to sources, was as a result of a complaint lodged by the legislator.
Danjuma was released in the afternoon of July 16, 2017 allegedly on the directives of Mr. Usman Abdullahi, the state police commissioner, and intervention from other persons in the state.
Danjuma who confirmed his arrest, detention and release said he went to the Police Headquarters on the invitation of the police but was subsequently detained adding that the matter has been resolved.
