Mr. Joel Waksi, a journalist with Atar Communication, owners of Liberty Television and Radio stations, was found dead near the Panteka neighbourhood in Mpape, Abuja on June 19, 2024, five days after he was declared missing.

Mr. Waksi, an On-Air Personality (OAP) at the media company, was last seen around 9 pm on June 14, 2024, when he closed from office and was scheduled to return to work at 2 pm the following day at the Mpape office.

His body was discovered with knife stabs in the neck; his phone was also stolen leading to suspicion that he was attacked by phone snatchers.

Confirming the tragic news, Mr. Balarabe Muhammad, the Group General Manager (GGM) of Atar Communication, disclosed that the police in the Mpape division discovered his body near the Panteka area and transferred to the morgue at Kubwa General Hospital. Mr. Muhammad recalled a similar incident two months earlier when Mr. Waksi was stabbed below the abdomen but survived and received treatment.

Although Mr. Waksi was supposed to be on break until June 17, having worked on night shift, however, due to internal arrangements among his colleagues, he was expected to report back to work on June 15 afternoon, but he never showed up, as a result, he was declared missing.
