On November 27, 2019, two journalists with the Reuters news agency, Mr. Afolabi Shotunde and Mr. Camillus Eboh, were arrested while covering a protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, by policemen drafted to quell the protest
Shotunde, revealed his arrest through a tweet and also made a distress call to a friend to disclose that he and his colleague were being taken to an unknown location, thereafter his phone could not be reached.
They were later released after spending some hours in police custody.
