On March 27, 2024, journalists were barred from covering the Labour Party National Convention which took place at the Grand Seasons Hotel in Nnewi, Anambra State. The gate of the hotel was reportedly heavily manned by security personnel who denied everyone entry, except those cleared to be allowed in by party officials.
According to news reports, all efforts made to reach the party’s spokesman, Mr. Obiorah Ifoh, to allow journalists with tags into the venue were rejected.
