La Nuu, an annual International Photography Festival in Rubí, Spain, is inviting professional and non-professional photographers from around the world to submit original photographic works created specifically for audiovisual and screen-based exhibition for the SCREEN Award 2026.
The competition offers a €1,000 cash prize to one selected winner, subject to applicable deductions. Applicants are not required to pay an entry or submission fee. The SCREEN Award is an international photography opportunity focused on presenting photographic works through audiovisual and screen-based formats. Selected works will be presented during La Nuu 2026 on October 3, 2026, providing the winner with additional exposure.
The programme aims to showcase innovative photographic projects created specifically for viewing on large screens rather than through traditional gallery prints.
The competition is open to audiovisual photographic works; photography created specifically for screen-based exhibition; experimental and creative photographic projects; free-theme photographic storytelling; and digital and audiovisual approaches to contemporary photography.
There is no specific theme for submissions. Photographers are free to explore their own subjects, concepts, visual styles, and creative approaches.
The SCREEN Award is open internationally to professional and non-professional photographers from any country who are at least 18 years old. There are no restrictions based on nationality or professional status.
A jury made up of professionals from the fields of photography and culture will evaluate the submitted works and select one winner.
The submitted work must use photography as its primary creative medium, be presented in audiovisual format, be suitable for large-screen projection, and demonstrate a clear artistic or conceptual approach while meeting all required technical specifications.
As the competition has a free theme, applicants can develop projects around subjects such as identity, society, environment, culture, memory, landscapes, people, personal experiences, or experimental photography.
Each participant may submit only one work. The submitted work must be between three and eight minutes long, in .mov format, with a minimum resolution of 1080 × 1920 pixels, and suitable for large-screen projection.
Applicants are advised to carefully review the technical specifications before submitting their work, as entries that do not meet the requirements may be excluded.
Text and credits included in the audiovisual work may be presented in any language. However, text in languages other than Catalan or Spanish must be accompanied by an English translation. This requirement does not apply to text written in Catalan or Spanish.
Applicants are expected to ensure that important written information included in their audiovisual work can be understood by the international selection panel and audience.
Participants must submit a dossier containing a biography, artistic CV, statement of intent, portfolio of previous work, name, telephone number, website or Instagram profile, contact details, and the audiovisual photographic work that meets the required technical specifications.
The statement of intent should clearly explain the concept behind the project and why the photographer selected the particular visual and audiovisual approach.
Applicants can strengthen their submissions by developing a clear photographic concept that communicates effectively through images and audiovisual presentation. They should organise the photographs into a coherent visual sequence with a clear beginning, development, and conclusion.
Applicants should also verify that their work is submitted in the required .mov format and meets all other technical requirements before submission.
The jury, comprising professionals working in photography and culture, will consider the originality and artistic quality of the submissions, as well as the clarity of the photographic concept, effectiveness of audiovisual storytelling, creative use of screen-based presentation, technical quality and coherence between the photographs, and the overall audiovisual structure.
The SCREEN Award provides photographers with an opportunity to explore photography beyond traditional prints and exhibitions. It allows participants to present photography in an audiovisual format, reach an international cultural audience, experiment with screen-based photographic storytelling, and showcase their creative work through a recognised photography festival.
