Local FM Station Bombed, Five Persons Feared Killed

On April 27, 2015 at about 8pm local time, a popular private local radio station, Tao FM located in Kuroko, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, North-central Nigeria was bombed by unknown persons.

Media reports have it that the bombers entered into the premises through the hilly rear of the station. They shot two security men before throwing an explosive into the building housing the station. Another version says that the bombers went to the station claiming they were going to place advertisement with the station and that the security man at the gate allowed them into the station premised whereon they headed straight to the operation room and threw explosive inside the building.

Five persons including security men and the Chief Engineer were reported killed while some others were injured.

Tao FM which broadcasts mainly in the local language, Ebira is reputed to be known for its radical stance on political analysis. It has Dr. Tom Adaba, the pioneer Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

No individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the act.
