Moving Minds Alliance’s Reporters for Early Age Children in Humanitarian Crisis (REACH) Network is inviting journalists from focus countries to pitch stories that amplify the lives of young children living in humanitarian crises. Reporters who are passionate about children’s rights and have experience reporting on issues that affect children and their caregivers are invited to share stories that can inspire action and make early childhood development a priority in neglected crisis settings.
Selected journalists will receive up to $500 in funding through the Advocacy Stories Fund (ASF) to support their reporting. Beyond financial support, participants will gain access to specialised training, webinars, and events, as well as resources and research on early childhood development in crisis settings. Joining the REACH Network also offers the opportunity to connect with like-minded journalists around the world and collaborate on stories that can drive real change for children in need.
To be considered, the story pitch should focus on children aged 0–8 and their caregivers, highlighting at least two of the following themes: mental health, early learning, nutrition, safety and security, responsive caregiving, the power of play, culturally sensitive interventions, disability and inclusion, or overall wellbeing. Strong pitches will address the root causes of the crisis and advocate for practical solutions, such as inclusive policies, dedicated budgets, locally led humanitarian initiatives, and long-term support for early childhood development in crisis contexts.
Journalists based in the REACH Network focus countries, including Colombia, Syria, Nigeria, Sudan, Palestine, DRC, Myanmar, South Sudan, Lebanon, Burkina Faso, Haiti, Niger, Cameroon, Mali, Somalia, Afghanistan, Yemen, Ethiopia, Central African Republic, Chad, Israel, Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Jordan, Nepal, India, and Venezuela, are encouraged to apply. Journalists with lived experience of conflict and displacement are especially welcome, as their perspectives can bring unique depth and authenticity to stories about children in crisis.
All story pitches must be submitted by March 31, 2026, with shortlisting conducted on a rolling basis. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by April 30, 2026. To submit your pitch, visit bit.ly/reporters4ECDinCrisis.
