On July 24, 2022, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) suspended Ozisa FM in Owerri, Imo State for reporting the July 17, 2022 killing of 14 wedding guests in Awomama in Oru East Local Government Area of the state by the Ebubeagu Security operatives.

Although the NBC did not state the reason for suspending the radio station, it was alleged that the Imo State government instigated NBC to close down the station for exposing the killings. Ebubeagu is a security outfit set up by the government of the state.

The station is owned by Ozisa Foundation for Peace and Social Development, which operates from the premises of the Catholic Diocese of Owerri in Imo State.
