Ms Ibukunoluwa Daramola, popularly known as IBK, a News Central Television journalist, was on August 6, 2026, assaulted by a suspected tout, popularly known as Agbero, while she was randomly interviewing members of the public on the streets of Lagos for a live vox pop segment on her television station.
According to media reports, Ms Daramola and her camera crew were interviewing members of the public, which reportedly agitated some people in the area because of the presence of television cameras.
According to the journalist, while the interview was on, one of the suspected touts approached her from behind and slapped her across the face, without provocation.
Following the incident, she said she decided to turn the experience into an investigative report highlighting the intimidation, extortion, and violence many Lagos residents allegedly face from touts.
