Reporters Without Borders, a media watchdog based in Paris, is calling on religious leaders in France to sign its declaration on freedom of expression. The declaration is an effort towards its campaign called “freedom of expression” which was inspired by the Charlie Hebdo massacre that claimed the lives of 12 people.

The main aim of this declaration is to bring to light how closely related “freedom of expression” and “religious freedom” are and also to promote a point of reference that can be used to put pressure on those who make ambiguous statements using the support of political leaders.

At the moment, Reporters Without Borders has some supporters on board with its declaration and has sought the support of representatives of France’s leading religious organizations.
