The Nigeria Merit Media Awards (NMMA), an award programme that recognises and celebrates excellence in journalism across various media categories in Nigeria, is inviting journalists across the print, radio, and television categories of the media industry to apply for the 2025 edition of the NMMA.
The awards are open to all journalists practising in Nigeria for works published or broadcast in 2024.
Awards would be given in Print (multiple sub-categories including Sports, Business, Entertainment, Investigative, Editorial Writing, Newspaper of the Year, etc.), Radio (Reporter, Presenter, Production, Station of the Year), and Television (Reporter, Newscaster, Production, Station of the Year).
Entries must be original copies of works done in 2024 (one original and four photocopies), while submissions for electronic media require five copies of recordings.
Entries should include a Curriculum Vitae and two passport-sized photographs of the author.
Mark “NMMA 2024 ENTRY” on the top left corner of envelopes/packages and specify the award category.
The awards allow a maximum of two entries per category per entrant and the same entry cannot be submitted for different categories.
Specifically, for Columnist of the Year, entrants should submit four articles, one per quarter, while for News Photographer of the Year, entrants should submit published cut-out photograph(s) with details.
Broadcast entries can be submitted via Flash Drive, Ordinary CDs (Audio), and DVDs (Video). Joint entries by two or more journalists are not eligible and only one entry per CD/DVD is allowed.
Entries can be submitted by the author, media establishments, other organisations/individuals (with consent), or the general public (for Radio and TV Broadcast Station of the Year categories via NBC zonal offices).
