A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, Mr Segun Ajibare, (also known as AjibareTalks), who is active on TikTok and other social media platforms, was on May 13, 2026, arrested in Osogbo, Osun State, by a joint team of operatives from Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). He was taken to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, and detained at Oke-Kura Correctional Centre without being brought before any court.
Mr Ajibare was accused of publishing online commentaries and podcasts questioning the collapse and alleged rehabilitation of the Moro Bridge in Kwara State at a cost of ₦1.2bn.
He had used his podcasts and social media commentaries to raise concerns about the condition of the Moro Bridge and to question claims that it had been rehabilitated in 2024. One of his podcast episodes, published on May 4, 2026, focused on alleged discrepancies in the cost and quality of the project and called for greater transparency from public officials.
Before his phone was taken away, Ajibare reportedly sent a message to associates describing how he was arrested and informed of an order directing his detention in prison custody.
