Online News Association Seeks Applications for Journalism 360° Challenge

The Online News Association (ONA), in collaboration with Knight Foundation and Google News Lab, is seeking for applications for its Journalism 360° Challenge.

Journalism 360 is a global network of storytellers accelerating the understanding and production of immersive journalism with the mission to help news organizations, journalists, technologists, content creators and journalism educators experiment with all forms of immersive storytelling, including but not limited to 360 video, augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality.

Proposals should use virtual, augmented, mixed reality or 360° video, immersive storytelling to discover new ways to engage audiences and advance the field of journalism.

Winners will receive up to US$20,000 in funding to test, refine and build out a project.

In addition to the funding opportunity, Challenge winners become part of the Journalism 360 ecosystem and have access to ONA’s ambassador team and a growing network of immersive storytellers. Its goal is to build a community of people who are passionate about new ways of storytelling and are excited to learn from one another and the community at large.
